Weston Campbell

Field Technician
Weston Campbell grew up on a remote cattle station in the mulga lands of the Charleville-Augathella region, where he developed an innate love for wildlife (especially reptiles), photography, and agriculture. This passion naturally led him to Boobook Ecological Consulting.

At eleven years old, Weston conducted a survey report on the connections between land development and fauna biodiversity, which he submitted to the Young Scientists of the Year Awards, where he placed as a national finalist. He produced a similar report during his senior education years. Weston holds qualifications in agriculture, agrifoods operation, and information and digital media technologies. He has also received photographic awards! His keen understanding of the ecological world makes him a valuable asset to our team.
Favourite species and why
“My favourite species would be the Dingo. I mean, everyone likes dogs, but is it just a dog? I find the uncertainty of taxonomy, and the variable perspectives on the species between the scientific community and the agricultural industry fascinating.”

Weston's main areas of expertise

  • Flora and fauna surveys
  • Field specimen collection and laboratory sorting
  • Data recording and field survey preparations
