Our team

Our heart and soul

At Boobook Ecological Consulting, nature is our inspiration and our motivation.

We care deeply about the diverse and multifaceted landscapes in which we work, as well as the communities we get to share these with.

Founding ecologists Craig and Meryl Eddie have made it their life’s work to share their rich knowledge of Queensland’s Brigalow Belt and Mulga Lands Bioregions, believing that once you understand a place, you will connect to it, and once you connect to it, you will protect it.

Family owned, locally based business

Today, our highly respected, locally based team includes ecologists, botanists, fauna spotter catchers and GIS/mapping specialists who understand the region’s native flora and fauna as well as its weeds and ecological challenges.

More recently, we have added ecotourism to our list of services through our secondary business, Boobook Explore.

Dedicated to our shared future

Naturally, we always keep the future in focus.

We work hard to protect the environment in the way we work, to increase our clients’ and community’s awareness of sustainability issues and to keep finding new ways to reduce our environmental impact.

It is vital that we run a responsible business and are seen to be practicing what we preach. We therefore have a validated, third-party review of our management system which includes health, safety and the environment, quality, corporate social responsibility, finances and insurances.

Supporting the local community

We regularly provide financial and in-kind donations to various community events and non-for-profit groups. These include the Maranoa Wildlife Caring and Education Centre, Roma Junior Touch Football Association and local schools.

We also help spread knowledge about our local flora and fauna at community events such as spotlighting evenings, birdwatching days, field days and excursions.

We care for injured, sick and orphaned native wildlife together with our local wildlife group, the Maranoa Wildlife Caring and Education Centre, and participate in fundraising activities for much needed resources for this organisation.

Quality work underpinned by strong values

Our technical expertise, experience and scientific integrity is underpinned by our values. When you work with our friendly and approachable team, you can expect accuracy, enthusiasm, flexibility, collaboration, dedication and environmental responsibility.
