Extensive experience with local specialisation

Boobook Ecological Consulting’s senior staff have over 60 years of combined experience in fauna survey techniques. Our local knowledge and attention to detail is second to none, and we are frequently called upon to conduct fauna surveys for clients across varying habitats and for projects of any size.

We use best practice techniques including active searches, trapping, spotlighting, acoustic monitoring and call playback when surveying. We own and maintain our own survey equipment and have no problem accessing remote areas with challenging logistics.

We are highly skilled at detecting threatened fauna species, from birds, reptiles and bats to other mammals, frogs, butterflies and land snails.

We also have in-depth knowledge of federal and state threatened fauna survey guidelines and specialise in the fauna of southern inland Queensland, especially the Brigalow Belt and Mulga Lands regions.

Boobook Ecological Consulting was providing a fauna spotting and catching service before the term “fauna spotting” was invented.

We actively help mining and construction companies, councils and other clients to minimise their impact on native animals during clearing, as well as during the installation of pipe work and other infrastructure.

Our fauna spotters are trained and experienced professionals who can reliably identify, capture and relocate native wildlife from construction and other work sites to ensure that your project can go ahead with the least possible impact.
